In mid-July, the 14th edition of the Thinking Cities Magazine was published. The issue focuses on the topic of 'Testing the Resilient City', exploring the innovative ways in which cities and public transport authorities have kept things moving during the challenging times brought about by COVID-19.
WeCount is featured in the magazine, with an article written by the project coordinating entity, Transport and Mobility Leuven. It focuses on how Citizen Science and the use of Telraam by engaged citizens proved essential in monitoring urban mobility patterns during the COVID-19 lockdown in Belgium.
As pointed out by Kris Vanherle and Wouter Florizoone, “Projects like Telraam and WeCount are proving that citizen science is not just a gimmick but is indeed able to generate evidence at lower cost, providing localised qualitative insights that traditional tools and Big Tech can’t provide”.
